Prof. Charu Deva Shastri

Our School, DAV Public School, Urmar has been popularly known as M. C. Jolly D.A.V. Public Senior Secondary School and was founded in 1966 by its Founder President, Prof. Charu Deva Shastri, in the premises of D.A.V Girls High School, Urmar. Primary aim was to provide excellent education in modern academic environment. The setting up of the school was the culmination of the movement that started in 1943 with the founding of the first D.A.V High School at Urmar Tanda, to propagate the ideas of the religious and social reforms


The school was shifted to its present building in 1975 and in 1979, after the death of Manager Sh. Mehar Chand Jolly Ji,its name was changed topay homage to him. At that time there was no ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL in the area. Our School is in the heart of the city. The school is spread across an area of 12 kanal. It provides all-round development of students. The school is equipped with modern infrastructure and a small canteen. Playground and fitness facilities add to the quality of life on the campus.

The aim of the school is to develop the overall personality of the student and to bring out the innate potential of the child. Regular workshops for all-round development of students are organized in the school. The school promotesto true learning by children, thereby enlightening the world with true knowledge of service and freedom. Every student is encouraged to practice his/her religion without interfering with their freedom of conscience in any way.

Workshops are arranged for the awareness on Life skills and Mental Health. The students are given moral education, i.e. the ethic of good living, relating to ones personal relationship with God, ones relationship with ones neighbors and ones responsibility for ones own progress in life.

Balanced and Thoughtful Implementation of Technology: Teach Young Students About E-Safety and Fake News – We must introduce students to the concept of ‘Fake News’. Additionally, teach students about safe online activity, and the threats of internet grooming, cyberbullying, and identity theft. We must ask students to cross-examine all information before they develop a complete trust in any of the news.

 

Encourage Students to Think Ethically and Emotionally: To teach students about digital citizenship, and ethical dimension is required. It is essential to teach children how to behave in an online environment where the public and private worlds are blurred.

 

We would like to see our students soar to new heights and taste success in all their endeavors. The dedicated staff of the school kindles the flame of knowledge in all its pupils that leads them from darkness to light in line with the school’s motto. Lead me from darkness to light. Together we will build a school that will maximize students’ learning and achievements and will raise the standards of school in all spheres to the zenith. Addmissions

  • The Academic year begins in April and ends in March the next year.

  • Admission to various classes is open to all irrespective of religion, class,creed, or race. However, the School reserves the right to refuse admission to a student who, in their opinion, maynot be able to cope with studies and syllabus in the school or if it is well known that the student is of bad character which would affect his/her or other’s studies and influence others negatively.

  • Registration of a child does not guarantee admission, it only means that the child is entitled to appear for an interview, after which the school authorities and principal will decide whether admission is to be given or not.

  • Students are usually admitted only at the beginning of the school year. Admissions to Nursery are taken at the minimum age of three.

  • Those seeking admission to higher classes need to bring the school leaving certificate from the school attended but will be placed in the standard most suited as decided by the principal. Birth Certificate and Aadhaar Card is to be produced for admission in the school.

  • No student will be admitted without prior test and interview.

Kindergarten

 

Kindergarten literally means childrens garden in a form of education for young children. Kids learn through engaging and fun activities like music and art transforming playtime to instill, significant, cognitive abilities, motor abilities and skill abilities.

 

Early childhood education aims to develop Friendship among children belonging to the age of category. It provides an environment that builds friendship, promotes interaction with other children and helps them come out of their comfort zones to the children.

The medium of instructions is English. According to the choice Hindi, Punjabi medium are also available. By involving the students in comprehensive learning, effort is made to teach the students to handle English effectively as written and spoken language. Hindi, Punjabi are also given their due importance. The school is prepares the students for the Punjab School Education Board Examination (P.S.E.B.) which is recognized by the Govt. of Punjab.

There is no specific syllabus for the entrance test, but children are expected to have the minimum knowledge of one is own mother tongue and English language and numbers. Basic understanding of animals and birds, fruits and vegetables and household articles etc.

 

Lower KG

Written test in English alphabet and numbers from 1 to 50 in figures.

Oral test in names of fruit, flowers, color’s, animals, and vegetables.

Written test in English, Mathematics, and general knowledge.

 

Notes

 

  • Students and parents must read all the rules printed on the school prospectus, school diary/ novel book/ assignment book and circulars which issued from time to time.

  • Management is entitled to delete, add, to alter or otherwise amend the rules and regulations of the school from time to time. Such amendment shall become binding to all.

  • Students can be withdrawn from the school by giving one calendar month notice. Fee for three months fee will be charged and paid for before the student’s name is struck off the rolls. In case of any dispute or differences of opinion, the decision of the Chairman will be final and binding on all parties concerned.
